Shinrin-yoku (experiencing the forest atmosphere or forest bathing) has received increasing attention from the perspective of preventive medicine in recent years. In order to conduct such precise radiotherapy, it is necessary to diagnose cancer accurately, to understand the extent of cancer invasion by making use of experience and to determine the optimum number of the Osaka Heavy Ion Therapy Center, two multi-row CT units and one MRI unit are installed.

At the conference, there was a half-day student-led FMIG symposium organized by Dr. Anna Tamai, where I had the opportunity to give a presentation about our OHSU FMIG and talk to many students from all over Japan about our shared passion for community medicine.

This was followed by four parallel sessions dedicated to Environment and Energy,” Health,” Education, Humanity and Society” and ”Agriculture and Food.” In each session, participants and panelists discussed ways for universities in Japan and South Africa to collaborate in the future to solve global and local problems and achieve set SDGs.
We now also have a facility dedicated to multidisciplinary research for innovation in molecular life sciences and academia-industry collaboration, which is also used by departments of the University of Tokyo's School of Engineering and School of Science, among others.
